It’s a Frankenstein of a Good Time!
Vancouver's most exciting festival, featuring two evenings of the city's maddest theatre artists, returns to chart the unknown waters where time-pressurized creation and risk taking performance meet, and the Monsters emerge from the Darkness on Hallowe’en!
2009 marks the 4th year of the Here Be Monsters' (HBM) annual carnival and the 11th year of Theatre Under the Gun. HBM is dedicated to inspire and facilitate performing artists in the creation of new theatrical work. We challenge Vancouver's mad indie theatre companies & artists to create original short performance pieces under extreme time constraints. 9 companies will receive an "inspiration package" from us, the monsters, to help them get started. From that starting point they have 48 hours to write, rehearse and perform their play. Let the insanity begin! These performances premiere on the live stage, surrounded by the best creative vibe in the city, at Performance Works on Granville Island, Friday October 30 and Saturday
October 31, 2009. Also featuring the infamous Monster Bar & Gallery: An exhibition of some of Vancouver's more outrageous, conroversial, progressive and wild visual artists! DJ duo Beaver & Mexican Wrestler play the night away after the curtain falls for both evenings Hallowe'en Monster Mash!!!
